Some older portals and utilities still need Java to run the signing component. When Java's security settings are too strict you get a "Java blocked" or security warning message and the signer never starts.
Steps
- Open the Java Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
- Go to the Security tab and choose Edit Site List.
- Add the address of the portal you are using to the Exception Site List and save.
- Restart the browser, open the portal again and choose Run when prompted.
Good to know
Only add sites you trust, such as the official government portal. If a portal asks for Java, check first whether it also offers a Java-free signer utility, which is the preferred option.
